Dr. Gomathy Sankaran Honored with Iconic Women Award 2025 at IWP Conclave in Dubai
Dubai, UAE | June 30, 2025 — Dr. Gomathy Sankaran, a distinguished educator and innovation leader from Malaysia, was honored with the Iconic Women Award 2025 at the 2nd International Women Parliament (IWP) Conclave, held on June 30 in Dubai, on the occasion of the International Day of Parliamentarism.
Dr. Sankaran received the award in recognition of her 28 years of service in science education and her exceptional contributions to STEM innovation in Malaysian schools. As a Science Excellence Teacher at SJKT Kangkar Pulai, she has introduced advanced teaching methods using augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and computer-based learning to enhance classroom experiences and student outcomes.
Her work has earned over 200 international innovation awards, including multiple gold medals from prestigious events such as ICAN Canada and recognition in the Malaysian Book of Records (2023). In addition to her contributions to education, Dr. Sankaran also leads programs in environmental awareness, netball, and Girl Scouts, helping students grow holistically in both academic and extracurricular fields.
The IWP Conclave 2025 was organized under the leadership of Namita Ghimire, President of IWP (Nepal), and powered by the global initiative Project100, which aims to spotlight women leaders from 100 countries. The event brought together over 40 women awardees and leaders representing diverse fields including education, entrepreneurship, health, governance, and diplomacy.
